An investigation has been launched after an office building in Liverpool City Centre was smashed up and vandalised with red paint.

Images taken by the Liverpool ECHO today show the damage done to One Derby Square – a prestigious five-storey building in central Liverpool that lies close to the city’s main court building and near to Liverpool Town Hall.

The pictures show a large hoarding now covering the main front window, which was smashed, while a large amount of red paint can be seen sprayed across the building – mainly across its first floor.

Neil Lee is the director of Delta Glazing in Warrington. He told the ECHO his company was called early this morning, May 15, to come and secure the building.

Mr Lee said: “There was a lot of damage to the front windows and doors and there was this special red paint all over the building that soaks into the paintwork.

“I reckon in total you are looking at potentially more than £25,000 of damage that has been done. This is not the first time that building has been targeted either.”

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We are appealing for information following criminal damage in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 15 May.
