We have a few more details about Sonic Frontiers: Definitive Edition, which was just announced and released for Nintendo Switch 2.

First up, SEGA has confirmed the two different graphical modes are included. It’s possible to either go for performance or resolution. Performance means a higher frame rate, but the resolution will drop to compensate.

SEGA didn’t go into specifics regarding the technical details. However, based on initial impressions, performance mode has the game targeting 60 FPS.

Other than that, we have confirmation that save data can be transferred from the Nintendo Switch version to Switch 2. Keep in mind that it does not work the other way around. Also, the following DLC cannot be moved over (mostly applies to the Japanese version):

  • Inugami Korone Collaboration DLC “SE: Inugami Korone”
  • Inugami Korone Collaboration DLC “Koronesuki”
  • Inugami Korone Collaboration DLC “Gloves & Shoes”
  • Sonic Emote (Koco)

Finally, we’ll mention that there is no upgrade path for Nintendo Switch owners. If you bought the game originally, you’ll need to fork over $50 for the Nintendo Switch 2 version.

Sonic Frontiers: Definitive Edition is now available on Nintendo Switch 2. In case you missed the trailer, we have that here.
