WVTM 13 FRIDAY AT NINE. ROUTING SYSTEM IS CAUSING LOCAL BUS RIDERS TO MISS SCHOOL, WORK AND MUCH MORE. THEY’RE NOW CALLING ON MASS TRANSIT TO FIX IT. WVTM 13 BRYCE OLSON SPOKE WITH RIDERS AND MASS TRANSIT ON DELAYS AND HOW THEY PLAN TO IMPROVE THE SERVICE. WELL, I FOUND OUT MYSELF THAT THEY HAD CHANGED THE ROUTES TO GET PEOPLE TO PLACES FASTER THAN BEFORE. LAX TRANSIT UPDATED THE ROUTING SYSTEM, BUT PASSENGERS AND DRIVERS ARE STILL GETTING USED TO THE NEW SYSTEM. MARLENA CARROLLTON SAYS SHE USES MASS TRANSIT TO GET TO HER DOCTOR’S APPOINTMENTS, BUT NEARLY MISSED THE RECENT ONE DUE TO THE NEW SYSTEM. I WAS ABOUT TO BE LATE FOR MY APPOINTMENT. I HAD AN APPOINTMENT AFTER LIKE 15 MINUTES AGO, BUT THEN I HAD TO CALL MY DOCTORS AND SEE IF THEY CAN RESCHEDULE FOR ME. AND THANKFULLY, I GUESS BECAUSE OF THE SITUATION WITH THE BUS, I WAS ABLE TO GET THAT RESCHEDULED. OTHER RIDERS SAY THEY FEEL HER PAIN. A LOT OF STUFF. I HAVE TO CATCH AN UBER OR WALK BECAUSE THEY ARE CHANGING. MASS TRANSIT RELEASED A STATEMENT SAYING WE UNDERSTAND THE FRUSTRATION THAT SERVICE DELAYS CAN CAUSE FOR RIDERS HEADING TO WORK, MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS, SCHOOL AND OTHER IMPORTANT DESTINATIONS. WE WANT OUR CUSTOMERS TO KNOW THAT WE HEAR THEIR CONCERNS, WE TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY AND ARE ACTIVELY IMPLEMENTING SOLUTIONS. CARROLLTON ENCOURAGES RIDERS TO BE THERE EXTRA EARLY FOR DEPARTURES. PLAN AHEAD BECAUSE YOU KNOW YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN IN BIRMINGHAM BRYLEE WVTM 13.

Max Transit updated its routing system to improve travel times, but passengers and drivers in Birmingham are still adjusting to the changes, leading to delays and disruptions. Marlana Carrington, a Birmingham resident who uses Max Transit to get to her doctor’s appointments, said she nearly missed a recent appointment due to the new system. “I was about to be late for my appointment. I had an appointment actually like 15 minutes ago, but then I had to call my doctors and see if they can reschedule for me, and thankfully, I guess because of the situation with Max Transit, I was able to get that rescheduled,” Carrington said. Other riders have expressed similar frustrations. “A lot of times I have to catch an Uber or walk because they’re changing,” Derrick Slaughter, another Birmingham resident, said. Max Transit released a statement addressing the concerns of its passengers. “We understand the frustration that service delays can cause for riders heading to work, medical appointments, school, and other important destinations. We want our customers to know that we hear their concerns, we take them seriously, and are actively implementing solutions,” the statement said. Carrington encouraged fellow riders to plan ahead to avoid missing their departures. “Plan ahead because you never know what’s going to happen,” she said.
