Drivers were warned to avoid the area as Garretts Green Lane was closed off by emergency services
Firefighters have been tackling a house fire in a Birmingham street, with the public urged to avoid the area for several hours.
A total of 35 firefighters, six crews, battled the blaze in Garretts Green Lane, Garretts Green from around 1.30pm on Thursday, May 15.
Emergency services closed off the road and urged people to steer clear of the area, with three crews still working on scene hours on from the alert.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the blaze.
Dramatic images from the scene captured as a hydraulic platform was used to extinguish flames in the roof of the property.

A large marked police van could also be seen parked up on site.
West Midlands Fire Service said: “Shortly after 1.30pm on Thursday (15 May), we responded to a house fire on Garretts Green Lane, Birmingham.
“Initially, six fire engines, a hydraulic platform and a 4×4 brigade response vehicle attended, crewed by firefighters from Hay Mills, Ward End, Highgate, Solihull, Aston and Erdington.”
In a latest update, the service said: “Firefighters continue to tackle the fire, and are making good progress.

“Police colleagues are in attendance to assist with traffic management. Garretts Green Lane is closed while we work at the scene.
“There have been no casualties or injuries. Due to progress, we have scaled down our resources. Three fire engines and a hydraulic aerial platform remain at the scene, with firefighters working to fully extinguish the fire.”
