Two men have been found guilty of murder after a 16-year-old boy was chased through the street and stabbed to death in broad daylight.
Rhamero West was fatally knifed in Moss Side after a car chase during a busy rush hour. Ryan Cashin, the man who stabbed Rhamero, was previously found guilty of murder following a trial in 2022.
Marquis Richards and Giovanni Lawrence were also found guilty of the same offence at that trial. Lawrence later appealed against his conviction at the Court of Appeal, where senior judges ordered a re-trial in his case. A second murder trial at Manchester Crown Court surrounding Rhamero’s death concluded today (June 30).

Lawrence was found guilty of murder again, while another defendant, Shikeo Bell, was also convicted of murder. The case can now be reported after restrictions were lifted.
A motive for the brutal killing of Rhamero, a nephew of ex-Man City and England international Shaun Wright-Phillips, has never been put forward by prosecutors. Rhamero was driving a stolen BMW and was with friends when he was spotted on Princess Road at rush hour at about 6pm on September 9, 2021.
He was then pursued by two cars, also stolen BMWs. Richards got out of one of the stolen BMWs while Rhamero’s car was stationary in traffic, and started attacking the car with a ‘large knife’.

Shortly after, Rhamero forced the car out of the traffic and drove away at speed in a bid for safety. He later crashed the car and hit a tree on Upper Chorlton Road.
Rhamero and his pals ran out of the car towards Darnley Street. Prosecuting, Guy Gozem KC said the boys were ‘running in fear for their lives’.
Richards ran after them carrying a knife. Bell then joined the foot chase. At some point Cashin had got out of the car and caught up with Richards, taking the knife from him.
Cashin was seen on CCTV on Norton Street while armed with the knife and chasing his victim. He stabbed Rhamero shortly after. Rhamero was pronounced dead at 7.36pm. The defendants fled but were later arrested.

Prosecutor Guy Gozem KC told the trial: “Whatever motive lay behind their relentless pursuit of Rhamero West, the defendants’ absolute determination to catch him is self-evident from the lengths that they were prepared to go to throughout the very public chase. He was the target for both of these defendants, together with those already convicted.”
He added: “Although ultimately the fatal blows were delivered by Ryan Cashin, these two defendants clearly played their part in the continuing pursuit of and attack on Rhamero West that day.”
Prosecutors said that DNA evidence showed that Lawrence and Bell had been in one of the pursuing BMWs.
Lawrence, now 24, of Colgrove Avenue, Manchester, and Bell, now 22, of no fixed address but from Moss Side, were found guilty of murder. They will be sentenced later this week.
Cashin, now 23, of Nancy Street, Manchester; Richards, now 21, of Anne Nuttall Road, Hulme; were found guilty of murder after the trial in 2022.
Cashin was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 23 years and 142 days. Richards received a life sentence with a minimum term of 17 years and 113 days.
