Just in time for the next heatwave, Manchester’s swanky Ivy restaurant has unveiled its new-look roof terrace where guests can soak up the sun. Sitting on the top floor of The Ivy’s imposing three-floor wooden block on Spinningfields, it’s already had its first big celebrities through the door as well.
A VIP launch night was held to toast the arrival of the new space, with a host of Coronation Street stars and influencers in attendance to be first through the doors.
Bosses at The Ivy have split the top floor into various sections that are now available for private bookings making it a perfect party hotspot for the summer. But even on those less-than-sunny Manchester days the party doesn’t stop – as it has a fully retractable roof.

Bosses say it ushers in “a new era of rooftop dining and socialising in the heart of the city.” The venue first opened on Spinningfields amid a blaze of publicity back in 2018 and it has been packing in revellers, footballers and famous faces ever since.

This is the first time the top floor space has been refreshed with its new look unveiled last week. At the centre of the experience is a brand-new rooftop bar, where guests can enjoy a menu of signature cocktails that they say has been “inspired by the vibrant energy of Manchester.”
Guests can discover reimagined interiors across the rooftop, inspired by Manchester’s industrial heritage. The new rooftop bar incorporates subtle worker bee motifs throughout its design, while The Ivy on the Roof restaurant features botanical influences with layered textures.
The transformation also introduces an entirely new addition to The Ivy with The Peacock Room.
Seating up to 28 guests, the private dining and events space has been designed to host everything from intimate dinners and celebrations to sophisticated late-night gatherings, complete with its own live DJ entertainment.

The official opening follows an exclusive launch celebration where guests included Coronation Street stars Antony Cotton, Lucy Fallon and Julia Goulding as well as TikTok star Luke Hamnett and Harry Styles’ mum Anne Twist. They were among the first guests to experience the new rooftop with champagne, cocktails and live entertainment on the night.
Speaking about the opening, Lisa Biard, General Manager at The Ivy Spinningfields Brasserie, said: “We’re delighted to officially welcome guests to our new rooftop destination.
“The vision was to create a space that captures the energy of Manchester while offering a sophisticated escape above the city; somewhere guests can enjoy everything from leisurely lunches and sunset cocktails to memorable celebrations with friends and family.
