Prep your party poppers and raise your glasses: it’s PS5 firmware update time.
Sony has issued the latest system software for its current-gen console, taking the machine to version 26.04-13.42.00.
As always, there’s the question of what exactly this update does, and I’m here to give you the lowdown.
Here are the official patch notes:
- We’ve improved system software performance and stability.
Now’s the time to pop those party poppers and take a swig. Hooray!
Yeah, it’s one of those minor stability updates again. On first inspection, I don’t see any notable changes to my PS5.
The one thing I have noticed is the fancy GTA 6 landing screen isn’t there anymore, but that’s probably just coincidence.
There’s still no sign of that supposed revamp of PS5’s GUI, at least not for everyone. Who knows when that’ll emerge.
I’ll update the article if any hidden changes in this firmware update are discovered.
