A sea search is underway to find a missing man off the coast of Scotland who was last seen four days ago, as concerns grow for his welfare.
Mark Ryle from Edinburgh travelled from the capital to Cape Wrath, in the north of the country, on Friday, May 9.
The 54-year-old was last spotted at around 10am on Monday, May 12 in the Cape Wrath area wearing light-coloured trousers, a dark grey top and carrying a red and black backpack.
While travelling to Cape Wrath, Mark, who is described as 5ft 8 inches in height with a slim build, met various local people.

However, when he failed to return and travel back from Cape Wrath concern was raised for him.
A search operation was launched including assistance from the RNLI, HM Coastguard, Assynt Mountain Rescue and search and rescue dog association. A search of the coastline has resumed today.
Sergeant Jo Macleod said: “Mark’s life has been in Edinburgh and officers are continuing enquiries to locate any extended family and friends of Mark.
“I would ask anyone who recently saw or spoke to Mark to contact us. If anyone has any information, please do get in touch.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1385 of Thursday, 14 May, 2025.
Earlier today, in a separate incident, we reported that a body has been found after a sailor went missing off the Scottish coast.
Alistair Turnbull – known as Garry Turnbull – was reported missing on Tuesday afternoon after he went sailing in Fleet Bay off the Dumfries and Galloway coast.
That sparked a major search for the 72-year-old from Gatehouse of Fleet, which involved Coastguard and lifeboat crews and a helicopter.
His dinghy had been found on Wednesday and police have now revealed a body was found on Thursday afternoon.
