A British mum who lives in Spain has issued a warning about her “biggest regret” on swapping life in the UK for the European Union.
Expat @chaplinfamilylifeinspain revealed that her “only” regret is “not doing it sooner”. She said: “I regret stressing about the small stuff, I regret not having the clarity of what I needed to do to make it happen and get here sooner.
“Every single day that I was stressing and worrying about the small stuff meant that our move to Spain was delayed by another day.” She advised fellow Britons hoping to come to Spain to just “get on with it” by making small and steady steps towards their goal.

She urged expat hopefuls to make it a “priority” and put a little bit of work towards it “every single day”. She also weighed in on whether or not moving to Spain will “fix your life”, and admitted that her move wasn’t a “magic” fix.
In the UK, she felt like she was “going through the motions” and “surviving”, she said. “I’ve got more space, mentally, emotionally and physically,” she told her followers.
“I see my kids smile more, and I see them more. I’ve got more time – actual time – to just be, and not be ‘doing’ all the time.”
Since the start of the 21 st century, Spain’s population has grown by eight million, with the total population increasing from 40 to 48 million, a rise of 20 per cent.
That is double the growth rate experienced by the other countries that were members of the EU in 2000.
The foreign-born population in Spain now accounts for 18 per cent of total population, but accounts for a far higher proportion of the population of active age.
For every 100 native-born Spaniards at the age of greatest labour market participation (25 to 49 years), there are 38 immigrants.
