Police are appealing for help in finding a missing Edinburgh man who had travelled to the Scottish Highlands.

Mark Ryle, travelled from the city to Cape Wrath on Friday, May 9, where he was last seen on Monday, May 12 at around 10am.

While travelling to Cape Wrath, the 54-year-old met a number of local people but when he failed to return home from the trip, concerns were raised.

Mark is around 5ft 8 inches in height with a slim build. He was last seen wearing light-coloured trousers and a dark grey top. He was carrying a red and black backpack.

Officers launched a search operation with assistance from the RNLI, HM Coastguard, Assynt Mountain Rescue and search and rescue dog association.

A search of the coastline resumed on Friday, May 16.

Officers are continuing to ask for information and are appealing for friends and family of Mark, who lived in Edinburgh, to come forward.

Sergeant Jo Macleod added: “Mark’s life has been in Edinburgh and officers are continuing enquiries to locate any extended family and friends of Mark.

“I would ask anyone who recently saw or spoke to Mark to contact us. If anyone has any information, please do get in touch.”
