Metro passengers were delayed for nearly 30 minutes on a service yesterday, May 15, after a BMW driver abandoned their car on tram tracks outside New Street station.
The tram, heading onwards to Wolverhampton, was unable to move due the parked vehicle blocking the line at around 1.30pm.
One witness claimed he spotted the motorist sitting in the front seat of the black BMW.

West Midlands Metro (WMM) told BirminghamLive the driver had left the vehicle parked on the line before returning to the car around 25 minutes later.
Rail bosses said the delay had caused “considerable inconvenience” for their customers.
They took the opportunity to remind and warn drivers that parking on tram lines could result in a fine from traffic wardens.

WMM said it was also an “obvious safety risk”.
“We can confirm that services were delayed for about 25 minutes yesterday afternoon,” said a spokesperson for WMM.
“This was due to a motorist who parked a car on the tram tracks close to our tram stop at New Street.
“Although services resumed when the driver returned to the vehicle, the incident did cause considerable inconvenience for our customers.
