In this engaging and collaborative session, we explored the exciting opportunities created by the Tour de France coming to Wales in 2027 and what it could mean for the future of cycling across the country. Together, we discussed how this world-class event has the potential to inspire new riders, strengthen local clubs, and create a lasting legacy that benefits cycling communities throughout Wales.

The session provided valuable insight into Beicio Cymru’s long-term vision for maximising the impact of the Tour de France, highlighting how clubs, coaches, volunteers, and community leaders can play an active role in shaping that legacy. Attendees also heard about plans to grow participation, strengthen pathways into cycling, and create more opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved.

In this session, we explored:

  • What we currently know about the Tour de France coming to Wales in 2027
  • Beicio Cymru’s plans to maximise the opportunity through a long-term sporting legacy
  • Learn to Ride Wales and the ambition to inspire and engage more children than ever before
  • Using cycling events, activities, and local engagement to inspire communities
  • Creating clearer pathways from a first ride into local clubs and regular participation
  • Supporting clubs to grow, develop, and retain members
  • Opportunities for clubs, coaches, and volunteers to get involved locally
  • An introduction to the upcoming Club Gathering events taking place across Wales later this summer

The session also encouraged open discussion, inviting clubs, coaches, volunteers, and community leaders to share their perspectives on the opportunities and challenges they see locally. It concluded with a live Q&A, giving attendees the chance to ask questions, contribute ideas, and help shape the future of cycling in Wales through a collaborative and supportive conversation.
