A teenager has been arrested after a series of robberies and attempts near a Birmingham school.
The robbery incidents took place in the Croydon Road, Erdington Hall Road and Bromford Lane area of Erdington Thursday (May 15) morning.
A woman witnessed a ‘lad in a balaclava’ attempting to rob a boy of his phone in the Erdington Hall Road area.
it was said she jumped out of her car – called the boy over and stopped the robbery.

But she then called the police and followed the boy and is said to have seen him ‘rob five more schoolkids’.
Erdington Academy issued an alert to parents and carers confirming the robbery incidents.
It said: “I wanted to update you on an incident that took place this morning before school in Croydon Road.
“Whilst students were coming to school some were approached by a member of the public.
“There are allegations this this individual may have tried to steal items from some Erdington Academy students.
“Due to the swift action of students, residents and staff on duty at the back gate to school, the police were contacted. The individual was then apprehended by the police.

The school continued: “We have identified some students who might have been victims of this incident, and we have contacted all the parents of those students and are working with the police.”
The school urged parents to speak to their child to ask if they witnessed any of the incidents and to contact police via 101 if they have any information which could help.
The email alert concluded by saying: “Once again thankyou to all in the local community for their swift action In notifying the school and the police about this unfortunate incident this morning.”

West Midlands Police has confirmed it has arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection with he robbery incidents.
A spokesman for the force said: “We were called to Bromford Lane, Birmingham on 15 May after a teenager reported being robbed.
“Officers attended and arrested a 13-year-old boy on suspicion of robbery and attempted robbery.
“He has since been bailed with strict conditions while our investigation continues.
“Anyone who was in the area at the time or has more information which could help with our enquiries can contact us via 101 or Live Chat quoting crime number 20/241189/25.”
