A Midlothian resident has shared their shock after looking out of their window to find their neighbour’s hedge ablaze.
John McNulty, of Dobbies Road, Bonnyrigg, noticed smoke rising into the sky opposite his home at around 10am on Friday July 3.
Local residents commented that council workers had been carrying out maintenance work in the street but it is not known how the fire started.
In a clip shared with Edinburgh Live, three men can be seen at the end of a driveway looking at the hedge as it becomes engulfed in flames.
Firefighters tackled the blaze.
Brown smoke is visibly spewing from the middle of the hedge with flames flickering into the air in the footage.
A further photo shows the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) in attendance at the garden inferno as they looked to control the situation.
Another image shows the charred remains of the impacted section of the bush.
John said: “I’m just worried for the neighbours. They are a lovely family.
“Their house and garden hut could have gone up.”

A spokesperson for the SFRS said: “We received a report of a 10ft garden hedge alight at around 10.08am on Friday July 3.
“One appliance was sent to the scene and the crew left at 11am.
“No injuries have been reported.”
