Austin Trout, the former WBC junior middleweight titlist, was savagely knocked out in the second round of Friday’s bare-knuckle bout with Ben Bonner at the BKFC Liberty Brawl at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.
Trout, seemingly celebrating the upcoming July 4 by paying homage to Apollo Creed in Rocky IV, came to the ring wearing the star-spangled outfit as James Brown’s Living in America provided the soundtrack. Creed would meet the worst possible end in the second round against Ivan Drago and Trout, thumped out of consciousness by one brutal blow from Bonner’s right fist, might now regret his ring-walk choices.
