Wirral woman jailed for over 7 years for domestic assault offences
A Wirral woman was jailed on Friday, 3 July, after pleading guilty to domestic offences against her husband.
Karen Palmer, of Centurion Drive in Meols appeared at Liverpool Crown Court and was sentenced to 10 years, which was reduced to seven years and six months in prison. She was also issued with an indefinite restraining order against the victim.
Teenage boy arrested following Birkenhead Park assault
A teenage boy has been arrested following a serious assault in Birkenhead Park last weekend. At around 1.45am on Sunday, 28 June, Merseyside Police received a report that a 19-year-old man had sustained serious lacerations to his hand and abdomen as well as a wound to his thigh.
He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition. As part of an ongoing investigation, a 15-year-old boy from Birkenhead has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent. He remains in police custody.

Click Me Man sought following arson in Wallasey
Police have released a CCTV image of a man who could have information following an arson in Wallasey.
At around 10.15pm on Monday, 4 May, it was reported that a blue BMW was on fire on Brighton Street. Following a joint investigation with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS), it was determined that the fire had been started deliberately and that an accelerant had been used.
Man seriously injured in Birkenhead collision
Officers are appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision in Birkenhead on Sunday, 28 June.
At around 5.20pm, officers received a report of a collision on Park Road North involving a black Ford Focus and a bicycle.
Closure orders for three Wirral convenience stores
Three convenience stores in Wirral have been forced to shut for three months. Each of the stores has had illegal goods seized by Trading Standards.
The three cases appeared in court on Thursday, 25 June. There have now been 19 such closure orders obtained by Wirral Council’s Trading Standards since December. The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) understands that more orders are planned.
Dogs die in hot cars
Please don’t leave your four-legged friend in your vehicle during hot weather.
Dogs can overheat really quickly, even with a window open, and with access to water.

Crackdown on Blue Badge fraud in Wirral
Over 450 Blue Badges that were being misused have been revoked in Wirral. An investigation has found badges issued to deceased residents were still being used.
Blue Badges give disabled people access to parking where they need it most, but every time a fraudulent badge user parks in a disabled spot it denies access to someone in genuine need.
Man charged following arson incident in Upton
A man has been charged following an incident in Upton.
At around 3.20am on Sunday, 28 June, it was reported that a male was acting suspiciously outside a home on Shortfield Road and soon afterwards, a fire was started next to the property.
