This article contains details from Emmerdale’s episode on Thursday April 9, now available to watch on ITVX.
A packed Emmerdale episode has finally confirmed the truth about sinister John Sugden – and there’s more than one shock.
For some time, fans have been dubious about Oliver Farnworth’s character. Since his debut, an air of mystery has surrounded him but that hasn’t stopped a love blossoming between himself and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).
Even Chas (Lucy Pargeter) is on board with her son’s fiancée, having initially been wary of him.
The first alarm bells started to ring when he was all too ready to dispose of Anthony’s body following his death, what he thought at the time was at the hands of Aaron.
Had he had experience of this previously?

Sorry, this video isn’t available any more.
We have since seen him suddenly lose his temper in unnerving outbursts and recently discovered some mysterious hospital visits.
On top of that, fans have been trying to link him to the demise of Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), who languishes in the depths of a lake.
So just what is going on?
Today’s Emmerdale has given us a lot to think about.
We see John issue an apology to Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) for his misdiagnosis of Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton), but this wasn’t really washing with the doc.

Desperate measures were called for and John orchestrated an incident that saw Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) collapse with an allergic reaction.
An evident means of trying to win over Liam, John rushed to save him and became quite the hero.
But while he is hailed by the community, flashbacks started to reveal the true nature of him – with each one providing another piece of what is quite a foreboding puzzle.
To preserve the secrecy for those who want to watch of a night instead of streaming online, Metro is opting not to give away the content of said flashbacks.

But, suffice to say that there isn’t just one twist in there – and some things will start to make a lot more sense.
While others will leave you with more questions.
But what isn’t in question anymore is that John is a deeply dodgy, mysterious and unpredictable soul.
And today’s revelations are kick-starting a saga packed with intrigue, twists and danger.
You can watch the drama unfold in Emmerdale at 7:30pm on Thursday April 10 on ITV, or stream now on ITVX.
