A group of Bristol sixth-formers wowed judges
A group of sixth form students from Montpelier High School have been crowned winners at the Young Enterprise Bristol Area Showcase, clinching both the coveted Company of the Year and Sustainability Award for their environmentally-themed venture.
The team, from the school’s V6 Sixth Form, impressed judges with their business, Story and Sprout, which combines a children’s picture book about climate change with a packet of seeds to promote environmental learning at home. The initiative stood out for its strong marketing strategy and commitment to sustainability.
Young Enterprise is a UK charity that equips young people with real-world business and entrepreneurial skills.
Through its flagship programme, students form and run a real business, gaining experience in teamwork, communication, finance, and problem-solving.
Amy Sims, head of business at Montpelier High School, praised the group for their achievement. Amy said: “The team have worked brilliantly together to achieve a deserved win at the Bristol finals. They have shown a great deal of passion and care in their product development, marketing and customer service. Well done Story and Sprout!”
The students previously secured the Best Customer Service award at the Young Enterprise trade fair held at St Nicholas Market. Their success at the Bristol finals now propels them to the regional finals in Poole, Dorset, where they will present their business to a new panel.
Team member Lila said: “We can’t wait for the opportunity to show the regional panel our incredible journey so far. We have really enjoyed the experience and we don’t want it to end!”
The school community is now rallying behind the students as they prepare for the next stage in the competition, hoping their trophy haul will continue to grow in the regional round this May.
