Paul McCarthy, one of contemporary art’s most influential and provocative figures, is heading to Dalston for four nights of experimental film screenings and live performances.
The series kicks off on 9 July at the Rio Cinema with a screening of video works spanning from 1970 to 2025, personally introduced by McCarthy himself. The evening will mark the UK premiere of Mother, the latest episode from his ongoing A&E project.
From 10 to 12 July, McCarthy will head over to Café OTO for performances with musicians Joe Potts, Rick Potts and Alex Stevens. The residency calls back to The Los Angeles Free Music Society and Extended Organ, the experimental sound group McCarthy co-founded in 1995, and will see him perform vocals and guitar alongside Chopped Optigan, electronics, customised acoustic instrumentation, processing and synths.
