Six people, including three children, have been rushed to hospital following a “serious” crash on the M8 in Lanarkshire.
Emergency services were alerted to the scene near Chapelhall at around 2am on Saturday, July 11, after the crash involving a Mercedes Vito mini van and an HGV.
The condition of the six people, who were all in the mini van, has not been confirmed. The driver of the HGV was not injured.
The westbound carriageway was closed until around 7.30am as officers carried out their investigations into the crash. Now, police are appealing for any witnesses to get in touch.
Sergeant Elaine Scott said: “I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.
“The road re-opened around 7.30am, same date. I want to thank members of the public for their patience while we investigated this serious crash.
“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0420 of Saturday, 11 July, 2026.”
