We’re officially having a beer garden summer. Manchester has been basking in the heat over the past few weeks, and while the heatwave looks to abate soon, temperatures are still in the mid-to-high twenties for the foreseeable.
Between now and Friday, temperatures are set to peak at 27C or 28C in Greater Manchester, before it drops down to 23C for the weekend. Heatwave threshold in Greater Manchester is 25C meaning that the two week heatwave will come to an end on Saturday.
Making the most of the sunshine, and as World Cup fever takes over, many of us have been seeking out drinking spots with outdoor space – and a bit of shade to enjoy our pint.

The only issue is that despite Manchester being blessed with many beer gardens and terraces, we all end up visiting the same spots – meaning we can’t always secure a seat. But out on a trading estate near Manchester Piccadilly, there’s a number of breweries where you can enjoy a quiet pint and a bit of sun.

Over this way is Manchester’s “Beermuda Triangle”, a cluster of popular independent breweries and taprooms. Located on the Piccadilly East and Sheffield Street area, near Piccadilly Station, the venues are celebrated among craft beer enthusiasts for their brewing talent, top-notch beers and quality taprooms.
One of those is Track Brewing Co, who in 2021 took over a 10,000 sq ft industrial unit on the industrial estate. Here, visitors can sit and watch the beers being brewed in giant tanks, see the drinks being canned and labelled, and get an insight into the craft behind their beloved beers – all while sipping a pint.

The independent business was founded in 2008 when owner Sam Dyson was cycling around the world, inspired by the taprooms around the U.S. When the team relocated from under Piccadilly Station to its current home, On The Brink Studios and MikeSian Studio, in collaboration with designer AH Creative, transformed the space into a modern and bright taproom.
Here, they have 20 keg lines and 3 cask lines containing their freshest beer with some occasional guest beers too. Alongside beer they also stock a variety of wines, spirits and soft drinks. In terms of food the excellent Slice Culture Pizza are behind the stoves.

Beer lovers can enjoy a range of hazy hop forward Pales, IPAs and DIPAs, as well as Imperial Stouts, sours and more, all served up fresh. And if you’re tempted to enjoy Track’s wares at home you can order beer fresh from their cold-room too.
There’s space for 80 seated customers in the taproom, with an overall capacity of 120. That’s because just beyond the main room lays one of the venue’s main calling cards, a suntrap beer garden where there’s the option to soak up the rays or enjoy the shade, all whilst supping a pint and indulging in a pizza slice.
