A body has been found in woods with police confirming it is that of a missing man. Merseyside Police confirmed officers received reports that a body of a man had been found in Formby pinewoods at around 6.50pm on Friday, May 16.

Following forensic examinations by Merseyside Police, the man has been formally identified as 56-year-old Bogdan Madajewski, from Liverpool, who was reported missing from home on Wednesday, May 14. Officers are supporting his family during this difficult time. His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been prepared for the coroner’s office.

Police released CCTV from Bootle Strand train station earlier this week with Bogdan last being seen on Wednesday morning. When last seen, Bogdan was wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt with lighter reverse cuffs, dark-coloured trousers/jeans and dark-coloured shoes. He was also carrying a light-coloured rucksack with a strap on both shoulders.
