Celtic fans celebrate in Glasgow city centre
Celtic fans staging an unofficial title party have ignored warnings to climb a historic building in the city centre.
Thousands flooded into the city to celebrate the club becoming league champions despite calls from the club to stay away from the area.
Many gathered at Glasgow Cross and were seen scaling the historic Mercat Cross building’s roof despite warning signs to steer clear.
Glasgow City Council had erected clear signs on the monument saying: “Danger Fragile Roof” and “Strictly no access”.
But jubilant fans climbed the building to hold up a tricolour and set off flares.

Police in attendance have been directing traffic and were also seen confiscating drinks from revellers, with First Bus warning all services will be disrupted as a result of the latest gathering.
Roads have also been closed.
Dozens of supporters have been seen holding aloft green flares as Hoops fans celebrate their side lifting a fourth successive league trophy in a row.
The party kicked into action around 3pm this afternoon just moments after Callum McGregor held aloft the Scottish Premiership trophy at Celtic Park.
Celtic’s most decorated player of all time, James Forrest, went on to score for a record-breaking 16th consecutive season in stoppage-time in a 1-1 draw with St Mirren to make sure trophy day did not fall flat against a St Mirren who fell just short of European qualification.
Prior to the match there was a potential flare up as fans came face-to-face when an Orange Walk paraded by a hotel packed with Celtic fans ahead of their side’s unsanctioned title street party.

Crowds were surrounded by police as some jeered and gestured and others used their mobile phones to film marchers filing past the building in Glasgow’s city centre.
Some fans have been pictured scaling traffic lights and the famous Merchant City sign in the Glasgow Cross area.

A spokesperson from Glasgow City Council said: “A large gathering of football fans has congregated at Glasgow Cross, several roads have been closed around this area.
“Road users are advised to avoid this area until further notice and follow Police direction.”
Thousands of revellers are already in the area, with thousands expected to turn out.
A huge clean up operation will be necessary once crowds have dispersed.
