A huge shark has been spotted swimming off the coast of Cornwall.
The suspected basking shark was seen off the Lizard Point on Wednesday afternoon (July 15) by stunned holidaymaker Clare Miller.
She estimated the shark to be around five to seven metres long and captured the remarkable creature on video – which you can watch above – as it swam near the surface of the water.
Speaking about how she felt when she saw the shark, Clare told CornwallLive: “I was unsure at first but felt overjoyed once I realised I had found something special.”
Clare, who is from Market Harborough in Leicestershire, is on a week-long tour of the coast of Cornwall with her boyfriend Nick.
She said she spent 15 minutes tracking the shark on video as she watched on in awe.
According to the Cornwall Wildlife Trust, the basking shark is the second largest fish in our oceans.
However, despite their size, basking sharks only feed on zooplankton and pose no risk to humans.
Back in May, CornwallLive reported that a basking shark was spotted and filmed by skipper, Kieren Faisey checking out Newlyn Harbour.
The creature was videoed cruising just below the surface in the clear blue waters. It was said to be around 10ft and appeared in good health.
