Bruce Springsteen took time out for his run of concerts in Manchester to dine with the actor due to play his dad in an upcoming biopic.
The Boss popped over to Yorkshire to meet up with Adolescence star Stephen Graham for a spot of lunch at Normans Restaurant in Kirkburton, Huddersfield.
The pair dropped in on Friday to the shock of the staff members, before posing for a photo. Bruce Springsteen is currently staying at the Stock Exchange Hotel, as he embarks on a tour in the UK, while Stephen Graham has been grabbing headlines since the release of Adolescence with reviews saying he is the best actor in Britain.
The restaurant wrote: “Absolutely honoured to have these two absolute legends over for a spot of lunch @stephengraham1973 @springsteen. Can think of worst ways to start the weekend!”
Graham plays Springsteen’s father Douglas ‘Dutch’ Springsteen in the biopic Deliver Me from Nowhere, starring Jeremy Allen White in the lead role, due for release next year.
Speaking to Edith Bowman on her podcast Soundtracking, Graham told how feedback from Springsteen had left him tears.
“I’m racing to get to the airport,” said Graham, “and I got this text, and it was so beautiful. It just said: ‘Better than any award that I could ever receive in my life’. He’s an icon. He’s a hero.”
Graham continued: “He’s a working-class hero. He’s an icon to thousands, to millions. And his text just said, ‘Thank you so much. You know, my father passed away a while ago and I felt like I saw him today and thank you for giving me that memory.’
“I was crying reading the text, do you know what I mean? Oh mate, it was beautiful. You couldn’t ask for anything more, you know, to share that with someone was gorgeous. He’s a lovely man.”
