Update [Tue 21st Jul 2026, 12:45pm]: If you were excited to play a new port of Heavy Rain dev Quantic Dream’s PS2 crime caper Indigo Prophecy – also known as Fahrenheit – today, then prepare to be disappointed.
While Sony had originally indicated on the PS Blog this game would be re-released on PS5, presumably using its new emulator, it’s since clarified this is actually the 2016 version available only on PS4.
That means no new Trophies and fewer quality-of-life features.
I’d still recommend playing the game if you’re interested in it, but it’s disappointing to learn there’s technically only one new PS Plus Premium classic this week – the enjoyable Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy.
Original Story: Heavy Rain maker Quantic Dream will re-release its wildly ambitious PS2 adventure game Indigo Prophecy – better known as Fahrenheit in Europe – on the PS5 later this month.
The game, already available on the PS Store as part of Sony’s PS2-to-PS4 program, will be updated in the platform holder’s new emulator, offering native PS5 support with rewind, save states, CRT filters, and region select.
The game will be included as part of PS Plus Premium from 21st July, but I’d also expect it to be sold separately if you don’t have the most expensive membership.

“Indigo Prophecy is the first interactive drama created by Quantic Dream, the makers of Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. In this paranormal thriller, New York City is stunned by a series of mysterious murders that follow the same pattern: ordinary people become possessed and kill absolute strangers in public. Play both sides of this breathtaking murder conspiracy and uncover the supernatural forces behind these crimes. Outside North America, Portugal and Fance, the game carried a different title on its original release – Fahrenheit.”
I reviewed this game on an old website I ran back in high school, and was absolutely obsessed with the opening mission, which takes place in a diner.
It’s peak Quantic Dream, with white knuckle pacing as you try to cover up a murder.
Unfortunately, the story does go downhill in its second half, with one iconic sequence seeing you fight against the Millenium Bug (for real).
Still, this is such a novel and unique game I think it’s really worth playing if you haven’t already – especially if you’re interested about the origins of director David Cage’s work.
