This Sunday, thousands of competitors will take to the streets of Manchester city centre to take part in the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run. Over 30,000 will be putting on their trainers and hitting the roads, while thousands more will line the
Established in 2003, the run is known for being one of Europe’s biggest 10km races. Both the 10k and half marathon events take place on Sunday, 18 May with start times staggered throughout the day.
The start line is on Portland Street and both the finish line and Event Village are on Deansgate. The routes do vary though, and you can take a look here for all the details.
This weekend’s weather is shaping up to be warm and sunny with highs of 22 degrees on race day, however the forecast may change, so keep an eye on the weather and prepare accordingly.

Those taking part, or just heading down to support will also be able to enjoy on-course music zones, charity cheer points, and DJ Chaise at the finish line DJ – giving runners an incredible welcome home at the finish.
Tommy Fury, Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez are just some of the celebrities also taking part, and stars of the hit show Gladiators will be the official starters for this year’s AJ Bell Junior & Mini Great Manchester Run, taking place at the Etihad Campus the day before on Saturday, 17 May.
The Junior (ages 9-15) and Mini (ages 3-8) events give kids the chance to take centre stage and show off their running skills a the track.
Starting on the Manchester Regional Arena track before looping around the Etihad stadium, Minis take on a 1.6km dash and Juniors a 2.5km challenge, before a grandstand finish.
Meanwhile, the main event on Sunday will start at 8:10am with multiple waves starts until approximately 13:30pm.
The reopening of roads will be done in phases between 11am until 7pm following the last runners, the removal of infrastructure and road cleansing.
