An inquest into his death is due to be opened

A man who died in a reservoir in Stockport has been named.
Police were called to Sykes Reservoir, in Alexandra Park in Edgeley, at around 8:30pm on Thursday July 9 after the alarm was raised over a man getting into ‘difficulty in the water.’
Emergency services including police, paramedics and fire crews all rushed to the scene with the reservoir and the area around it being cordoned off.

Sadly a man’s body was recovered a short time afterwards.
He has now been named as 48-year-old Craig McCormick.

The opening of an inquest into his death has been listed by Stockport Coroner’s Court.
The hearing is due to take place on Friday.
A number of tributes have been paid to Mr McCormick on social media.
One friend said: “Thanks for the years of fun and laughter.” Adding: “Such a massive loss for all of us that knew him.”
A second said: “Will be misseed pal. Can’t believe it.” A third added: “Rest in peace my brother.”
Following the tragedy, GMP said they were ‘looking into the full circumstances of the incident’ but reminded people of the ‘serious risks associated with open water.’
