An emergency was declared aboard a Ryanair service shortly after its departure from Birmingham Airport, prompting the crew to request priority landing clearance.
Flight FR661, bound for Dublin, had taken off at 8.37am on Sunday, July 26, when a medical incident is understood to have occurred onboard.
The pilots subsequently transmitted the 7700 squawk code, the standard signal used to alert air traffic control to a general emergency, before diverting for an expedited arrival, reports Birmingham Live.

According to AirLive tracking data, the aircraft was approximately 8,000 feet above the Irish Sea when the distress code was transmitted. The service subsequently made a safe landing on Runway 28L at Dublin Airport roughly 40 minutes following its departure from Birmingham.
Emergency response teams were positioned and ready to attend to the aircraft upon arrival.
