An expert has called for the introduction of standardised training for thatching work in Northern Ireland after a number of protruding pegs were discovered inside a thatched cottage on the grounds of the Ulster Folk Museum.

One member of the public warned that the “tiger trap” was spotted at eye height on a property that was first built in the 1850s in Coshkib, Cushendall before being dismantled and moved to the museum in 1965.
