Police have made an arrest in connection with an instance of animal cruelty alleged to have taken place in a north Manchester park.
GMP’s Harpurhey Neighbourhood Team said they had been ‘made aware’ of a video circulating on social media purportedly showing ‘a male in a park’ who was ‘allegedly harming animals’.
After conducting enquiries, the force said they had today (July 27) made an arrest in connection with the incident, believed to have taken place at Boggart Hole Clough in Blackley.

In their update, police thanked the public for their assistance but asked them to refrain from ‘speculating’ or sharing unverified information.
The post read: “The Harpurhey Neighbourhood Team has been made aware of a video circulating on social media showing a male in a park who was allegedly harming animals.
“Following enquiries, officers have today arrested a male in connection with this matter. He is currently in police custody , where he will be questioned by officers as part of the ongoing investigation.
“We would like to thank members of the community and witnesses who have come forward with information and supported our investigation. Your assistance has been invaluable in helping us respond swiftly.
“We would also like to reassure residents that there is no wider threat to the public in relation to this incident.
As enquiries continue, we would ask the community to refrain from speculation or sharing unverified information online.
“Speculation can negatively impact ongoing investigations and cause unnecessary concern within the community.
