Edinburgh has enjoyed uncharacteristic warm weather over the course of May 2025.

The mercury climbed above 20C on several occasions in the past fortnight and there are still a few more days of glorious sunshine for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Monday 19 will see overcast skies with a gentle breeze while temperatures are forecast to peak at around 14C in the mid afternoon.

On Tuesday 20 we will see temperatures climb to 19C with blazing sunshine expected throughout the day.

A cool breeze will bring a welcome reprieve for those who struggle with the heat.

Wednesday 21 sees a return to a reasonable high of 15C, with the morning starting off overcast before making way for clear skies and glorious sunshine for the entirety of the afternoon and early evening.

Thursday 22 will start much like Wednesday, overcast skies to kick things off before the cloud cover clears to make way for the sun and a peak temperature of 14C at 4pm in the afternoon.

Friday 23 will be the last of the ‘mini heatwave’ the capital has been experiencing as temperatures climb to 16C and sun shines throughout the morning and early afternoon.

But from 5pm on Friday, the rain will begin to fall, marking the start of a week-long deluge, with rain set to befall the city.

Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 are predicted to be complete washouts by BBC’s meteorologists.
