Tom Holland has revealed he has a “really clear vision” of how he will pass the Spider-Man baton to the next actor who takes on the role.
Following the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the 30-year-old actor has shared his thoughts on the future of the franchise and confirmed that it’s already been discussed in “meetings.”
Holland, who recently commented on the franchise’s “remarkable achievement”, sat down with Josh Horowitz for an episode of his Happy Sad Confused podcast to discuss his latest outing as Peter Parker.

At one point, Horowitz asked the BAFTA Award winner: “Will you know when it’s time to pass the baton? And have you imagined how you’d want that to go down?”
The British actor responded immediately and confirmed: “Oh yeah, there’s a whole plan that we have been working on for… I would say, since we finished Spider-Man: No Way Home.
“It’s laid out. It’s gonna change, for sure. But I have a really clear vision to the passing on of the baton, and I think it’s really exciting. I know I get really excited when we have these meetings and chat about it,” he revealed, before adding: “But that is the thing that I want to do most in this character, for sure.”
Horowitz followed it up by asking Holland if he thinks there’s room for various concurrent Spider-Men, name-dropping Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, who have both portrayed the comic book superhero in previous movies.

Holland, who recently married his long-term partner Zendaya, replied: “Of course I do, are you kidding? I think what’s been so fun over these last few years is that there are so many different Spider-Man mediums.
“We have Spider-Noir that came out a few weeks ago, we have my version, we have the stuff that Sony’s been doing, we have the animated movies that Sony make, which are just like the best Spider-Man movies that have ever been made, those animated movies. The heart in those movies is out of this world,” he said, before adding: “Of course there’s room for it!”
Holland first made his MCU debut as Spider-Man in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, before starring in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, and Avengers: Endgame in 2019, as well as Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Spider-Man: No Way Home was released in 2021, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day hit cinemas on Wednesday (July 29) and has already received positive reviews.
