August is one of the busiest months in London, with thousands of families and tourists descending on the city during the summer holidays. Thankfully, the capital’s sprawling public transport system makes it incredibly easy to get wherever they need to go.

However, maintenance jobs, line upgrades and track works can cause issues for daytrippers and commuters alike. Next month is no exception, with disruption scheduled across almost every Tube and Overground line.

However, the biggest upheaval will be on the Tram network, which is set to close in sections for more than three weeks from August 5. This is to allow crews to work on 770m of track in a bid to improve dependability and performance, Transport for London (TfL) said.

Mark Davis, general manager for London Trams, added: “We know these closures will affect some customers and we’re sorry for the disruption, but this investment is essential to maintaining a safe and reliable tram network. By replacing key sections of track in one of the busiest parts of the network, we’ll help improve reliability and reduce unplanned disruption for the millions of journeys made through Croydon each year.
