Danny Rohl is considering multiple options amid ongoing uncertainty about his future as Sheffield Wednesday manager.
Rohl remains under contract at Hillsborough but there seems to be an increasing expectation that he will depart in the off-season.
The 36-year-old has built an excellent reputation during assistant coaching spells at RB Leipzig, Southampton, Bayern Munich and the Germany national team.
Southampton have targeted Rohl for the top job previously and he continues to be on their radar after Ivan Juric left St Mary’s earlier this season. Simon Rusk has been in interim charge of the side since Juric’s departure.
However, it is not guaranteed the south coast side would be his preferred destination — with teams in the Premier League and across Europe, notably his homeland, showing interest in the German.
Wednesday gave Rohl his first senior coaching position in October 2023, replacing Xisco Munoz in the dugout, who had failed to win any of his first 10 games of the season.
Rohl guided Wednesday away from relegation, securing survival on the final day of the campaign with a 2-0 victory over Sunderland. He signed a long-term deal with the club in the summer last year.
In his first full season with the club this year, Rohl led Wednesday to a 12th place finish in the second tier, their highest league position since 2018-19.
