Emergency services swarmed Deansgate after man became injured in the bustling city centre street. Officers were called out to concerns for the man’s welfare at 10.45pm on Saturday night (August 1).
Greater Manchester Police said the man had fallen and injured his head. He was rushed to hospital in a serious condition.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious, GMP says. Video footage circulating online shows a heavy emergency services presence at the junction of Deansgate and Market Street on Saturday night.

An area of the street was taped off by the traffic lights. Multiple GMP vehicles, ambulance service response vehicles and at least one fire engine could be seen in attendance.
An air ambulance critical care team vehicle was also at the scene. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it was called out to the scene to support GMP.
