Sheffield United are yet to agree a price with the Premier League new boys for the midfielder. The ex-Holland youth international’s contract with SUFC expires at the end of the upcoming 2026/27 season meaning he has entered the final 12 months of his deal in South Yorkshire.
Hamer, 29, is due to become a free agent next June as things stand and his future at Bramall Lane is up in the air at the moment, despite the fact he played for the Blades in their latest pre-season friendly over in Germany against VfL Bochum. He has made 123 appearances for his current club in all competitions to date and has chipped in with 22 goals and 29 assists.
In this latest update regarding his situation in this transfer window, Sky Sports claim a fee for his services hasn’t been agreed yet and talks are continuing between all the parties involved. The source adds that the player is ‘keen’ to return to the CBS Arena if possible and that personal terms are not expected to be a problem if an agreement is struck.

The Blades risk losing the ex-Feyenoord and PEC Zwolle man for nothing next year. Therefore, they may need to cash in on him now or in January to avoid him going for free.
