Sheffield United have the chance to bring in some more new faces before the end of the transfer window on 1st September.
Sheffield United appear poised to lose Gus Hamer over the coming weeks with Coventry City keen to lure him back to the CBS Arena following their promotion from the Championship. If Hamer leaves SUFC, that would free up space and funds to pave the way for other reinforcements before the deadline.
With that in mind, the Blades should think outside the box with their recruitment and target a move for Hibernian midfielder Miguel Chaiwa. At the age of 22, he has bags of potential and has the capacity to improve and develop over the coming years.
Chaiwa, who is a Zambia international with 11 caps to his name so far in his career, has caught the eye playing in the Scottish Premiership over recent times and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see other teams look at luring him away from Easter Road. He made the switch to Edinburgh back in August 2025 and he is under contract until June 2028.
He has made 36 appearances for Hibs in all competitions to date and has chipped in with two goals. Transfermarkt value him at around the £2.6million mark.

Sheffield United are said to be working on a deal to re-sign Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City. However, SUFC should steer clear of the top flight man and go for Chaiwa instead.
He is a lot younger than Phillips and would be a useful long-term addition. Furthermore, Phillips has struggled for fitness over recent times and landing him again would be a risk.
If Chaiwa joined the Blades, he would give them more competition and depth in the middle of the park. He could battle it out with the likes of Oli Arblaster, Sydie Peck and Joe Rothwell, among others, for a place in Chris Wilder’s starting XI.
He has adapted well to life at Hibernian over the past 12 months. They won’t want to lose him anytime soon but their hands may be tied if his price tag is met.

Sheffield United need young and hungry players and Chaiwa fits that mould. He would inject more quality into SUFC’s ranks if they managed to lure him down the Scottish border.
Prior to his switch to Hibernian, he plied his trade with Swiss giants Young Boys. He went on to play 31 times for the Super League outfit, as well as having a loan spell at FC Schaffhausen to get some experience.
