A crowd of people protesting has formed outside a Midlothian property for the fourth night in the space of a week.

Around 40 people reportedly gathered in St Andrew Street in Dalkeith at around 5.30pm on Tuesday, August 4. Those demonstrating claimed they were opposing an alleged “sex offender” who had been housed in the area.

Police were again in attendance, with several officers seen trying to control the crowd. A cordon also appeared to have been erected outside a boarded-up flat.

Edinburgh Live previously reported on the earlier demonstrations, which were dispersed by police with no arrests made.

In footage shared on social media, those outside could be heard shouting and chanting, calling for the person inside the property to be removed.

A significant police presence could be seen swarming the residential street.

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
