Moses Itauma isn’t interested in making calls to fight heavyweight veterans Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

Itauma is set for the biggest moment of his boxing career as he challenges Filip Hrgovic in a newly upgraded world title fight.

The huge clash at London’s O2 Arena on August 29 could well be the mercurial young talent’s crowning moment.

Should he taste victory, naturally he is being linked to the biggest superstars and commercial opportunities including Joshua and Fury.

The pair are still the division’s two biggest names in Britain despite looking far beyond their best years ahead of their lucrative blockbuster clash.

Joshua previously opened the door to an unlikely bout with Itauma, whereas Fury has firmly suggested he won’t face the emerging star.

The Chatham native was asked if he wanted to face the pair during an interview with talkSPORT, but batted away the question.

“For me to do that or suggest that would be disrespectful,” he responded when asked about the potential clashes.

“AJ isn’t in his prime and neither is Tyson Fury, I think it’d be disrespectful to say I’d like to fight these guys.

“I’m not throwing hate or shade, but they are not the fighters they once were.

“They are still very good and capable fighters, if all three of us were in our primes then they’d be lovely fights.

“But I’d rather focus on Filip Hrgovic in front of me.”

Joshua and Fury still has the commercial interest given they are still at the same stage of their career.

But taking on the ferocious and sharp new kid on the block would likely be a risk too far for the veterans, who have achieved so much already in their career.

Itauma has chance to make history

For Itauma, it would see him become the second youngest heavyweight world champion in history, should he taste victory.

It will see him just fall short of Mike Tyson’s record, with the power-punching icon winning the world title at the age of 20, one year younger than Itauma.

Itauma’s feat would see him brush shoulders with the likes of Tyson and Ali.

And he has admitted that he is happy with the achievement, but admits frustration at missing out on ‘Iron’s record.

He added: “I mean obviously becoming world champion at a young age is an achievement for myself.

“But I believe second is the first loser, so it’s not a claim I want to have.
