Drivers planning a late night or early morning trip should plan ahead

A section of Bristol motorway is among the seven planned overnight closures in south-west England on Thursday evening, transport bosses have confirmed.

National Highways has published its list of planned overnight major road closures for Thursday night (August 6). Most closures come into effect from 8pm, and are typically in place until the early hours.

The seven closures cover three motorways and A-roads, including the M48, which connects England and Wales and terminates just north of Bristol, is also set to close at the Severn Bridge. The M5 is also on the list, with four individual closures planned for Thursday.

Drivers planning on a late-night, or early morning, trip should be aware of the following closures in the south west:

  • A30: Scorrier exit slip road closure westbound, from 8pm to 6am
  • A30: Tolvaddon to Treswithian carriageway closure westbound, from 8pm to 6am
  • M48: Jct 1 to 2 Severn Bridge carriageway closure westbound, from 8pm to 6am
  • M5: Jct 24 to 23 carriageway closure northbound, from 10pm to 6am
  • M5: Jct 16 to 14 carriageway closed northbound, from 10pm to 6am
  • M5: Jct 30 between exit and entry slip roads carriageway closure northbound, from 9pm to 6am
  • M5: Jct 9 entry slip road closure northbound, from 9pm to 6am
