Paddy McGuinness has reflected on his forgotten Coronation Street role, over a decade later. While best known as a presenter these days, fans may remember that the star made a cameo on the soap back in 2015.
In it, he played a survivalist called Dougie Ryan across a few episodes, who was part of a camping storyline involving Tyrone Dobbs and others.
Paddy has been co-hosting This Morning this week, and shocked co-presenter Josie Gibson when he revealed alongside soaps expert Sharon Marshall that he was in the show.

“The glory days,” he recalled. “I was in Corrie. I did a week in Corrie. I played a survivalist called Dougie and I just did a week in the woods.”
Josie joked that the star “just keeps giving and giving”, while later on in the show they brought up a clip of his appearance, before jokingly giving Paddy a BAFTA statuette from the show’s display.
Meanwhile, last year Paddy confirmed that he was stepping down as host of Channel 4 series Tempting Fortune after two seasons, and was replaced by Rob Beckett.
“I am happy to be passing the baton on and the new host is in for a real treat because it’s a great show,” he shared of his decision. “I will be sad to leave it, but with other commitments and enjoying more family time, I’ve had to make some difficult choices.”

A channel spokesperson added: “Paddy has been a brilliant host of Tempting Fortune, bringing his trademark humour to both series.
“We’re grateful for everything he’s brought to the show, and we totally understand that the filming commitment overseas is a big one and he is unable join us for the next series.”
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
