AYR, 20:00 – Supreme Clarets got Richard Fahey on the board at Ayr’s Ladies Day evening card, taking the Book The Ladbrokes Ayr Gold Cup Handicap at 5/1 under Warren Fentiman.

The Race Story

Over a stiff seven furlongs on ground officially good, good to soft in places, Fentiman produced Supreme Clarets to lead inside the final furlong and put the race to bed by a length and three-quarters. Runninsonofagun, sent off at 4/1 having headed the morning market, chased the winner home without ever quite landing a blow, with Black Storm (13/2) a length and a quarter back in third.

Milford Grange ran on for fourth at 9/1, a neck in front of Sanafi Zabeel (15/2), but the story was the winner: Fahey’s four-year-old travelled strongly throughout and found plenty when Fentiman asked, a well-timed strike in a race that had looked wide open on paper.
