A bust water pipe is causing problems across parts of north Liverpool this morning with at least one school announcing its closure for the day.

United Utilities has informed residents in the Fazakerley area that a burst pipe has been reported at the junction between Copplehouse Lane and Hawksmoor Road which is causing a number of properties to experience either no water coming from their taps or low pressure.

The message adds: “All customers should have supply, however this may fluctuate during peak times of the day. Our team will be onsite as soon as possible to begin the repair.”

At least one school in the area has announced its closure today because of the water problems. Holy Name Catholic Primary School contacted parents with an ‘urgent message’, stating: “Unfortunately, due to a burst pipe in the area, we have no water supply in school.

A latest update regarding the incident on United Utilities’ website states: “We’re aware of a problem on the corner of Copplehouse Lane and Hawksmoor Road, which is causing no water or low pressure, we’re sorry if you are affected by this.

“Our team are dealing with it and will be doing all they can to get your taps flowing again.”

The ECHO has contacted Liverpool City Council to find out if any other schools have been affected by the water issues in the area.
