Lezayre Nursing Home threw open its garden gates to the community on Saturday, 8 August, for a Summer Fayre that raised more than £1,300 for the home’s resident fund.
The free-entry event brought residents together with their relatives, friends, and neighbours from across Rock Ferry for an afternoon of good food, live entertainment, and old-fashioned fun in the sunshine.
Visitors enjoyed a free BBQ, an ice cream van, and homemade lemonade, alongside a packed line-up of stalls including a cake stall, a toy stall, a jewellery stall and a resident craft stall showcasing work made by the people who call Lezayre home.
There were raffles and a teddy tombola, face painting and a children’s colouring competition, hook a duck, a bouncy castle, and games and prizes throughout the day. A live singer performed from 2:30pm, before a DJ kept the party going until 6pm.
Taking pride of place was a brand-new “Sweet Cart” — built from scratch by the home’s maintenance man, Phil, especially for the occasion. The cart proved a firm favourite with residents and visitors of all ages and will now become a permanent fixture at future events.
Every penny raised on the day will go back into the resident fund, which the home uses to pay for outings, activities and one-off treats chosen by the residents themselves.

The Summer Fayre was organised and staffed entirely by the Lezayre team, with support from residents, families and local well-wishers.
