50 Cent has built quite the television empire, but there is apparently one genre missing from his growing collection: comedy.

The G-Unit Film & TV boss stopped by Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show on Tuesday (Aug. 11) to promote Fightland, his latest project as executive producer. During the conversation, Fallon asked about 50 Cent’s ever-expanding TV slate, which includes the Payday adaptation currently in development.

That is when Fif revealed that he has his sights set on something a little lighter.

“I’mma need you,” the Sean Combs: The Reckoning executive producer told Fallon. “This is how we use these relationships. Yeah, I wanna do a scripted comedy show.”

In other words, 50 Cent is ready to trade some of the usual crime and drama for a few punchlines.

50 Cent Has Done Comedy Before

This would not be 50 Cent’s first trip into comedy. Back in 2017, he launched the sketch series 50 Central on BET, showing off a different side of himself outside his usual music and acting work.

His latest comments suggest he wants to take things a step further. Rather than another sketch show, Fif appears interested in getting G-Unit Film & TV behind a full scripted comedy series, possibly something closer to a traditional sitcom.

That could give the producer another way to expand his television brand. His projects have often leaned toward crime, drama and action, so comedy would be a noticeable change of pace.

And judging by his comment to Fallon, he is already thinking about who might help make it happen.

The TV Empire Keeps Growing

50 Cent already has plenty keeping him busy. His upcoming Payday adaptation is being developed with Vice Studios and Starbreeze Entertainment. The series does not yet have an officially announced network or streamer attached.

Still, the contrast shows how wide 50 Cent’s entertainment ambitions have become. He has spent years building projects around crime and drama, while also working as a producer on documentaries and other television projects.

Fightland, though decidedly not a comedy, recently launched on Starz in the United States and is slated to debut on Sky Atlantic in the U.K. later this month.

Now, it looks like 50 Cent wants to add laughter to the lineup.

There is no word yet on what the comedy would be about, who would star in it or where it would air. For now, the idea is still in the early stages. But if Fif gets his way, G-Unit Film & TV could soon have another kind of show in its playbook.

After all, a TV empire can never have too many tricks up its sleeve.
