A teenager has suffered ‘potentially serious’ injuries following a collision on Ladypool Road

A hunt is underway to trace a driver after a teenager was struck by a car.

The boy was hit by a vehicle on Ladypool Road just before 12.10pm on Monday (May 19), which then left the scene.

Paramedics treated him for ‘potentially serious injuries’ before he was taken to hospital.

Ladypool Road is currently cordoned off in both sections by police as they conduct their enquiries.

Traffic is being diverted and there is said to be minor disruption.

A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: “We were called to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Ladypool Road at around 12.10pm today (19 May).

“A teenage boy was taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

“The car left the scene following the collision and we’re carrying out enquiries to trace the vehicle and driver.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to reports of a collision between a car and pedestrian on Ladypool Road at 12.08pm, one ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Trust’s Critical Care Car attended the scene.

“On arrival we discovered one patient, a teenage male who was the pedestrian.

“He was treated for potentially serious injuries before being taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.”
