King Charles has written privately to Joe Biden after the former President’s office announced that he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. Buckingham Palace confirmed today that a message had been sent from the King although no further information about its content was released.

The message comes as King Charles continues his treatment for cancer after announcing his diagnosis last February. Buckingham Palace has not said what kind of cancer he has, however aides have made it clear that it is not prostate cancer as it was discovered when he received treatment for an enlarged prostate. No details of the King’s treatment have been released other than to confirm it remains ongoing. After some initial time away from the spotlight, he has continued with a busy program of engagements including trips overseas.

President Biden’s office announced his diagnosis Sunday. “Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms,” the statement read.

“On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone. While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management.”

In a touching personal message on social media today alongside a photograph of himself and wife Jill, Biden write, “Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”
