In a video posted on social media Potteries charity champion Arfan Mohammed, behind the takeaway chain, Sizzlers, has visited Goldenhill Community Centre with some food for affected families. Janine Proctor, of Just Family CIC, told Arfan: “There’s been a substantial fire just down the road. There has been several houses impacted, and we have opened the centre up this evening to provide refuge, refreshments and some food.
“We are trying to get emergency accommodation and working with the local GP for anyone who needs emergency medication. So anybody who has been impacted, please get in touch.”
Arfan, who has recently launched in Kidsgrove, said: “I have had numerous messages and I’ve come down with a load of food for the community, and that’s my duty and as a community it’s our duty when times are so hard. Anybody that can support or help, we are trying to get accommodation, more food is on the way, and what else do we need?”

Janine replied: “At the moment we are just assessing what everybody needs, we will put an update on social media with a link. We have a number of dogs here as well so we will need things for those as well. But we will update on social media. And thank you to the local community for all coming together.”
Arfan replied: “That’s what community is all about. So Goldenhill Community Centre is where everyone is staying, I’ve dropped some food of and if anybody else has neccessities, and we have some dogs here as well so if you can bring something down it will be much appreciated.”
