Earlier this year, Sarah Ferguson said goodbye to Royal Lodge after nearly two decades living there. The former Duchess of York was forced to leave the royal residence following revelations about her friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, and has kept a low profile ever since.
Now, it is believed that Sarah is facing the unfortunate dilemma of what to do with her belongings, as they are thought to have remained at Royal Lodge.
She and her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, were ordered by King Charles to vacate their premises in February after the two were stripped of their remaining royal titles following their separate close ties to Epstein.
Despite her best efforts to maintain a distance from her former residence, recent reports have claimed she’s likely to face a conundrum when she eventually returns to the UK, as her belongings are thought to have remained at Royal Lodge.

Where is Sarah Ferguson living now?
While there have been several reports speculating about Sarah’s whereabouts, the latest and most consistent updates suggest she may now be residing in Portugal, where her daughter, Princess Eugenie, has just given birth to her third child.
Sarah was previously staying in Switzerland at a property owned by her close friend, businessman Paddy McNally. Sarah used to date Paddy, who passed away in July 2026 at the age of 88.
The pair remained friends after their split.Before that, it was believed that she was staying at a high-end ski chalet in Austria, where rooms retail for £2,000 a night.

Additional reports have suggested that Sarah had failed to secure a permanent home since leaving Royal Lodge, with some claiming she spent several months sofa-surfing with her famous friends and checking into luxury wellness clinics.
The Daily Mail suggested she had been left “effectively homeless” after her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, refused to allow their mother to live with them. It’s thought that Sarah was the first to exit Royal Lodge, with Andrew following shortly afterwards to live in a temporary home on Sandringham Estate before moving into his current home, Marsh Farm.

While the royal family prepares to reunite at their annual summer family get-together in Balmoral, it is unlikely that Andrew will receive an invite. King Charles is understood to have “no plans” to see his brother, according to The Times.
Though it’s not known whether Andrew has been banned from the royal residence, it’s believed that the idea of Andrew’s presence with other members of the royal family would raise “considerable sensitivities”
